Weipa certainly has a reputation for delivering some of the best fishing Queensland has to offer.
Weipa is a town built on culture and mining, secluded from the rest of the world for many years due to its remote location, but now it has opened up and has almost got a bitumen road all the way from Cairns making access all the more easier.
Covering rivers that seem to have no end, coastal areas that are still untouched and countless inshore reef systems that all provide some of the best sportfishing on offer right on your doorstep. Weipa is a location where you can stand at your door step and watch the ocean come alive as a range of tropical species bust up a bait school within casting distance.
A charter with Chaise and the crew of Coastal Sportfishing Connections is a chance to experience and explore the remote and not so remote areas of Tropical and Far North Queensland. The chance to catch a fish of a lifetime and experience culture and diversity of the area that you are fishing.
Reef Fishing: Bluewater, Top Water/ Reef Flats, Deepwater Jigging.
Creek & River Fishing: Lure fishing.
Times: 7am till 3.30pm
Dates: 13th of August till 16th of November
Pickup Location: Evans Landing Boat Ramp a few minutes South of Weipa.
Directions: From Weipa take John Evans Drive south until you reach Kerr Pt Drive, head east a couple of minutes until you find Landing Drive and follow that till you reach Evans Landing Boat Ramp. East to find on Google Maps.
Facilities: Toilet facilities and a great jetty.

Each day of charters goes for around 8-9 hours. The exact time can depend on the touring party, the weather and various other elements.
Since our days are 8-9 hours, we allocate around 2 hours to travel and then the remainder of the time is on the water.
This works out to be a total of 6-7 hours on the water per day.
If you wish to keep the fish your catch during the charter you can unless it’s a Barramundi over 80cm.
The reason we don’t allow Barramundi over 80cm to be kept is because they can often be essential to Barramundi breeding and it can disrupt the ecosystem taking them from the water.
We decide whether the weather conditions are right or not for the day prior to departure.
If the weather conditions are not looking good then we attempt to reschedule the tour and if that’s not possible we will provide a refund.
This is optional, more than often our clients already have accommodation, however, if you need help finding a place to stay before or after your tour then just let us know and we will connect you with somewhere nice.
It’s quite easy to get to each pier with uber and cabs, however, if you are having transportation issues then just let us know and we will help.
